Unbreakable bond: German Shepherds refuse to let go of each other at shelter – heartwarming story inside!

A snapshot of the two dogs embracing was taken at the shelter, and it completely shifted their destinies.

Dogs are social creatures, which is why they often form strong connections to people. However, they can also be quite fond of other canines as well. This could be due to the fact that dogs prefer living in packs.

If two dogs live in the same household, they may develop a close relationship. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for canines to form an attachment when they’re staying at a rescue or shelter.

Apollo and Adonis are an excellent illustration of ‘bonded dogs.’

Adonis and Apollo embraced one another closely as their guardian relinquished them, with the uncertainty of what lay ahead for them. It was likely that they suspected they would be brought to a Texas animal shelter with a high euthanasia rate.

Cindy Droogmans, the originator of the Long Island-based A-Team Elite Rescue Dogs, encountered the two dogs and they were so frightened that they were shaking.

Due to Droogmans’ efforts, Adonis and Apollo did not have to remain in the frightening location for an extended period of time.

Once Droogmans took the two brothers to the vet in Huntington, New York, it was then she found out why their previous owner had abandoned them at a shelter.

“Probably they are dumped because they are heartworm positive, like most dogs in Texas,” Droogmans told The Dodo. “They are in full treatment now.”

No matter what obstacles they faced, these sweet little companions never left one another’s side and would comfort each other by embracing and snuggling close. Droogmans was typically successful in finding a home for both dogs.

She was unwilling to part with the two animals, who were so affectionately connected, and was determined to find a loving home where both would be accepted.

“A bonded pair is always difficult to place, but look at them,” she said. “How can they ever be split up?”

Happily, the tale of Apollo and Adonis comes to a cheerful conclusion.

The image of the two animals quickly spread across the internet and an overwhelming number of applications were received to adopt them. Eventually, they found a loving home together where they will remain for the rest of their lives.

“We received many applications for the brothers Apollo and Adonis. They were an internet hit . The brothers are adopted and will leave soon for their forever home… Apollo and Adonis are just 1 pair of the many dogs we pulled from the same high kill shelter. If you like brothers please consider Arenze and Albaco. They are also puppies and need urgent a home where they are loved and get the life they deserve,” the shelter wrote.

After the adoption of her two dogs, Droogmans spoke with Bored Panda and described how they were settling into their new home. Apollo was understandably a bit scared, which led to an alarming incident when he escaped soon after arriving. Fortunately, it only took around 24 hours for them to locate him again.

“The trackers team did an amazing job,” Droogmans said. “I was crying and shaking all over. He is back with his brother.”

We are delighted that Apollo and Adonis have been adopted into a permanent home where they can remain together. It is always heart-warming to witness a joyful conclusion.
