Heartwarming: German Shepherd becomes Unlikely Caretaker for Abandoned Deer
Meet Sarge, the German Shepherd with a heart of gold. This furry companion loves nothing more than taking care of animals, particularly baby deer, or fawns.
Known for their intelligence, loyalty and devotion, German Shepherds make great police, military, therapy and service dogs.
However, Sarge’s calling is a little different – he dedicates himself to nursing injured animals back to health in his rural Ohio home.
With a natural inclination to look after others and a love for work, Sarge thrives in his role as caretaker. Surrounded by lush forest.
Sarge’s owners work tirelessly to heal a variety of animals and return them to the wild. Sarge lends a helping paw by providing love, affection, and comfort to each animal in his care, ensuring they never feel alone.
But Sarge is more than just a nurse, he’s a friend. He loves to snuggle up with the animals and make them feel at home, even sharing his food, water and toys with them. A stark contrast to the typical image of German Shepherds as fierce police dogs, Sarge’s gentle nature is truly heartwarming.
Check out the WeRateDogs tweet about Sarge and watch the sweet video of another German Shepard being sweet with a baby deer below.
This is Sarge. He helps save injured and orphaned wildlife in his area. I’m told he loves all animals, but gets the most attached to fawns. 14/10 good boy Sarge pic.twitter.com/Zlv65hDxxE

Sarge is one of a kind, super kind hearted, and as the breed does protects their chosen family.
